The churches of Stockport Deanery Stockport has several parish churches, of all different shapes and sizes- from the original parish church of St. Mary to the huge neo-gothic St. George's and italianate "waterloo church" of St. Thomas'. Each church has a different style of worship, either contemporary or traditional, but all share the common goal of making Christ known in the local community. The various church communities are made up of people from all over Stockport and the local area, of all ages and backgrounds. Many of the churches are open during the week for visitors, and a number of of considerable historical and architectural interest.
